We are a family with 2 kids (8 and 10 years old) and we just bought a 1908-old Belgian farm located in Flanders, Belgium. We got the keys (well, there were no keys actually 😁, they were lost somewhere along the way) in the middle of December 2020.
We’re planning a total renovation project, but since we spent almost all our savings to buy it, it will be mainly done by us, novices in construction and renovation. In phase 1 we plan to start from the main building – roof, electricity, plumbing, heating – to be able to move in as quickly as possible.
What are we aiming for: – preserve original details in exteriors and interiors – reuse materials as much as possible – make it environment friendly – plant a garden with lots of fruit trees – survive while living in this house during renovations – stay sane and still married
