I’m a commentator, journalist and the president of Nancy F. Huehnergarth Consulting, which specializes in nutrition and physical activity advocacy and policy change. For six years, I was the executive director of the New York State Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Alliance (NYSHEPA). Since 2002, I’ve advocated for a variety of measures including healthy school nutrition standards, calorie labeling, sugary drink tax, nutrition standards for kid’s meals, Complete Streets, and the sugary drink warning label. I testified before the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee on the need for federal nutrition standards for competitive foods sold in schools and have testified before the NYS Legislature as well as numerous local legislatures.
